Sting («Стинг»; настоящее имя — Гордон Мэтью Томас Самнер; 2 октября 1951) —
английский рок-музыкант и актёр, лидер группы The Police в 1976—84 гг.
С 1984 г. выступает сольно. Свой псевдоним Стинг получил за чёрно-жёлтый полосатый свитер,
в котором впервые появился на сцене. Глагол to sting означает «жалить», в переносном смысле «язвить».
Более двадцати лет мир пристально наблюдает за сольной деятельностью Стинга, За это время певец и композитор выпустил
12 альбомов, снялся в нескольких фильмах, спел "All for Love" вместе с Родом Стюартом и Брайном Адамсом.
Подарил своим поклонникам множество замечательных хитов, 18 из которых вошли в его альбом из серии "Grand Collection".
Имя Стинга уже давно не сходит с верхних строчек хит-парадов всего мира, каждый его новый диск удостаивается
лучших музыкальных премий. Певец, плюс ко всему еще интересен, как личность, и не нуждается ни в каких рекламных,
скандальных акциях. Вместо этого Стинг уже 15 лет защищает бразильские леса, живет жизнью примерного семьянина,
и более того, черпает в этом вдохновение для своих песен. За свои музыкальные заслуги Английская королева
в октябре 2003 года посвятила Стинга в Рыцари Британской империи.
